Journal ArticleDOI

Regulation of collagen metabolism and cell growth by epidermal growth factor and ascorbate in cultured human skin fibroblasts

TL;DR: The results suggest that the two growth-promoting factors, epidermal growth factor and L-ascorbate, modulate metabolism of extracellular matrix components as well as cell growth in a quite different manner in human skin fibroblasts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: A Variant Characterized by the Deficiency of Proa2 Chain of Type I Procollagen

TL;DR: Clinical manifestations characterized by cardiovascular abnormalities due to decreased collagen deposition in the aortic valve and the wall of aorta, hypermobility of the joints, and hyperextensibility of the skin in this patient may be closely related to the observations described above.
Journal ArticleDOI

Increased Type XI Collagen Expression in the Spinal Hyperostotic Mouse (TWY/TWY)

TL;DR: Results indicate that continuous expression ofType XI collagen in growth cartilage and cartilaginous metaplasia of ligament cells accompanied by type XI collagen expression seem to be closely related to the onset and progression of spinal hyperostosis in twy mice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of the class II beta-tubulin in developmental and adult rat tissues.

TL;DR: Results demonstrate that MAb58A is specific for the class II beta-tubulin isotype, which may retain an embryonic nature in both neuronal and non-neuronal tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biochemical and Immunohistochemical Studies on the Scirrhous Carcinoma of Human Stomach

TL;DR: Quantitative analysis of the collagen production by isolated stroma cells and undifferentiated and highly differentiated carcinoma cells inculture in culture in the presence and absence of a combination of the conditioned medium of these cells has shown that the scirrhous carcinoma of stomach results from the "stroma reaction" ofStroma cells induced by infiltrating malignant epithelium.
