Cardiac parasympathetic dysfunction concurrent with cardiac sympathetic denervation in Parkinson's disease.

TL;DR: It is concluded that cardiac parasympathetic dysfunction occurs concurrent with sympathetic denervation as revealed by (123)I-MIBG myocardial scintigraphy in PD and contributes to the development of orthostatic hypotension.
Journal ArticleDOI

Degeneration of mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons in klotho mouse related to vitamin D exposure

TL;DR: Examining mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons of klotho mice and identifying tyrosine hydroxylase-positive neurons in the SNc and VTA found that levels of striatal dopamine were significantly decreased with aging in klOTHo mice, suggesting that abnormal activation of vitamin D due to Klotho insufficiency leads to degeneration of the dopamine system.
Journal ArticleDOI
