Proceedings ArticleDOI
Performance of a software MPEG video decoder
TL;DR: It is shown that memory bandwidth is the primary limitation in performance of the decoder, not the computational complexity of the inverse discrete cosine transform as is commonly thought.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advances in the stable isotope-mass spectrometric measurement of DNA synthesis and cell proliferation.
Richard A. Neese,Richard A. Neese,Scott Q. Siler,Denise Cesar,Fernando Antelo,Daniel Lee,Lisa M. Misell,Ketan D. Patel,Shandiz Tehrani,Payal Shah,Marc K. Hellerstein,Marc K. Hellerstein +11 more
TL;DR: Technical improvements that increase yield, stability, sensitivity, and reproducibility of the method allow measurement of stable isotope incorporation into DNA and calculation of cell proliferation and death rates in vivo in humans and experimental animals, with fewer cells, greater reproducedcibility, and less labor.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
MPEG Video in Software: Representation, Transmission, and Playback
TL;DR: A software decoder for MPEG-1 video was integrated into a continuous media playback system that supports synchronized playing of audio and video data stored on a file server and it is shown that playback is smooth when all frames or very few frames can be decoded.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
The Berkeley continuous media toolkit
TL;DR: This demonstration will illustrate several applications and research projects build using CMT while showing how CMT is used to build applications and experiment with innovative multimedia systems research.
