TL;DR: It is suggested that responsiveness to initial IIS and detection of a hereditary podocytopathy are prognostic indicators of favorable and poor long-term outcome, respectively, in children with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quality of life in children with chronic kidney disease (with child and parent assessments)
Necla Buyan,Mehmet Türkmen,Ilmay Bilge,Esra Baskin,Mehmet Haberal,Yelda Bilginer,Sevgi Mir,Sevinç Emre,Sema Akman,Ozan Ozkaya,Kibriya Fidan,Harika Alpay,Salih Kavukçu,Lale Sever,Zeynep Birsin Özçakar,Nahide Dogrucan +15 more

Journal ArticleDOI
Neurologic involvement in atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and successful treatment with eculizumab
Kaan Gulleroglu,Kibriya Fidan,Veysel Sabri Hancer,Umut Selda Bayrakci,Esra Baskin,Oguz Soylemezoglu +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that eculizumab is a rapid-acting, effective, and life-saving treatment for pediatric patients with aHUS and severe neurological involvement, which works by inhibiting complement-mediated TMA in the kidney and other organs, such as the brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unresponsiveness to colchicine therapy in patients with familial Mediterranean fever homozygous for the M694V mutation
Oguz Soylemezoglu,Mustafa Arga,Kibriya Fidan,Sevim Gönen,Hamdi Cihan Emeksiz,Enver Hasanoglu,Necla Buyan +6 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the M694V/M694V mutation is associated with lower response to colchicine treatment, and patients homozygous for M694Vs may be carrying an increased risk for development of amyloidosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypertension in Pediatric Patients With Renal Scarring in Association With Vesicoureteral Reflux
TL;DR: Hypertension is a serious complication in children with reflux nephropathy and is associated with the severity of RS and VUR grade, and ABPM seems to be superior over office measurements of blood pressure in identifying patients with hypertension.
