TL;DR: It is suggested that responsiveness to initial IIS and detection of a hereditary podocytopathy are prognostic indicators of favorable and poor long-term outcome, respectively, in children with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome.

The bone and mineral disorder of children undergoing chronic peritoneal dialysis.
Dagmara Borzych,Dagmara Borzych,Lesley Rees,Il Soo Ha,Annabelle Chua,Patricia G. Vallés,Maria Lipka,Pedro Zambrano,Thurid Ahlenstiel,Sevcan A. Bakkaloglu,Ana P. TL;DR: The symptoms and management of the mineral and bone disorder of chronic kidney disease in children on peritoneal dialysis showed substantial regional variation, and findings support a PTH target range of 100-300 pg/ml in the pediatric age group.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed an unselected adolescent cohort of the international PodoNet registry to develop a rational screening approach based on 227 patients with nonsyndromic steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome aged 10-20 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Management of Anemia in Children Receiving Chronic Peritoneal Dialysis
Dagmara Borzych-Duzalka,Yelda Bilginer,Il Soo Ha,Mustafa Bak,Lesley Rees,Francisco Cano,Reyner Loza Munarriz,Annabelle Chua,Silvia Pesle,Sevinç Emre,Agnieszka Urzykowska,Lily Quiroz,Javier Darío Ruscasso,Colin T. TL;DR: Control of anemia in children receiving long-term PD varies by region, ESA requirements are independent of age when dose is scaled to body surface area, and ESA resistance is associated with inflammation, fluid retention, and hyperparathyroidism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Underweight, overweight and obesity in paediatric dialysis and renal transplant patients
Marjolein Bonthuis,Karlijn J. van Stralen,Enrico Verrina,Jaap W. Groothoff,Angel Alonso Melgar,Alberto Edefonti,Michel Fischbach,Patricia Mendes,Elena A. TL;DR: Overweight and obesity, rather than underweight, are highly prevalent in European children on RRT, and nutritional management in children receiving RRT should focus as much on the prevention and treatment of overweight as on preventing malnutrition.
