Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the diagnosis of heart failure in patients with atrial fibrillation
Karina V Bunting,Simrat Gill,Alice J Sitch,Samir Mehta,Kieran O'Connor,Gregory Y.H. Lip,Paulus Kirchhof,Victoria Y Strauss,Kazem Rahimi,A. John Camm,Mary Stanbury,Michael Griffith,Jonathan N. Townend,Georgios V. Gkoutos,Andreas Karwath,Richard P. Steeds,Dipak Kotecha +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the reproducibility of the index-beat and conventional consecutive-beat methods was compared to calculate left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), global longitudinal strain (GLS), and E/e' (mitral E wave max/average diastolic tissue Doppler velocity), and assessed intraoperator/interoperator variability, time efficiency and validity against natriuretic peptides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mitral Regurgitation Following Acute Myocardial Infarction Treated by Percutaneous Coronary Intervention-Prevalence, Risk factors, and Predictors of Outcome.
Harish Sharma,Ashwin Radhakrishnan,Peter Nightingale,Samuel Brown,John May,Kieran O'Connor,Iqra Shakeel,Nawal Zia,Sagar N. Doshi,Jonathan N. Townend,Saul G. Myerson,Paulus Kirchhof,Peter Ludman,M. Adnan Nadir,Richard P. Steeds +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identified 1000 consecutive patients admitted with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in 2016/17 treated by percutaneous coronary intervention with pre-discharge transthoracic echocardiography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac Imaging to Assess Left Ventricular Systolic Function in Atrial Fibrillation.
Karina V Bunting,Karina V Bunting,Kieran O'Connor,Richard P. Steeds,Richard P. Steeds,Dipak Kotecha,Dipak Kotecha +6 more
TL;DR: A prospectively-registered systematic review was performed, including 24 published studies with patients in AF at the time of imaging and reporting validity or reproducibility data on left ventricular systolic parameters, finding Reproducibility of echocardiography was better when selecting an index beat compared to averaging of consecutive beats.
Journal ArticleDOI
The characteristics of mitral regurgitation: Data from patients admitted following acute myocardial infarction
Harish Sharma,Ashwin Radhakrishnan,Peter Nightingale,Samuel Brown,John May,Kieran O'Connor,Iqra Shakeel,Nawal Zia,Sagar N. Doshi,Jonathan N. Townend,Saul G. Myerson,Paulus Kirchhof,Peter Ludman,M. Adnan Nadir,Richard P. Steeds +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the prevalence and characteristics of mitral regurgitation after acute myocardial infarction, including patients with ST-elevation (STEMI) and non-ST elevation MI (NSTEMI).
