Journal ArticleDOI

An improved design of air suspension for seats of mobile agricultural machines

TL;DR: In this paper, a new improved passive suspension system is proposed as most promising and includes an air spring with additional air volume and variable air damping, which provides the best vibration attenuation, when considering passive suspension systems, for agricultural machinery or other vehicles with similar vibration inputs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of vibrational comfort on agricultural vehicles by passive and semi-active cabin suspensions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the effect of a passive and semi-active hydropneumatic cabin suspension on the comfort of the drivers of agricultural vehicles, and found that up to 90% improvements in comfort values were observed.
Journal Article

Effect of driver and driving style on the stress responses of pigs during a short journey by trailer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the combined effect of driver and driving style on the behaviour, salivary cortisol concentration, and heart-rate variability of pigs during a short journey, and concluded that increased driver awareness of the effects of their driving on the responses of pigs, would improve pig welfare.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conceptual Cab Suspension System for a Self-propelled Agricultural Machine, Part 1: Development of a Linear Mathematical Model

TL;DR: In this article, a linear model of a cab suspension of a self-propelled agricultural machine with six degrees of freedom is developed, based on Lagrange's equation, taking into account the kinetic energy of the suspension and the virtual work executed on the cab suspension.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conceptual Cab Suspension System for a Self-propelled Agricultural Machine¿Part 2: Operator Comfort Optimisation

TL;DR: In this article, a linear model of a conceptual cab suspension was derived and validated, and the model damping values were optimised using standard comfort parameter, the combination of comfort parameters and power spectra interpretation allows the determination of the appropriate damping value for each specific situation.
