Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of supplemental magnesium, tryptophan, vitamin C, vitamin E, and herbs on stress responses and pork quality
TL;DR: Generally, Mg could lower loin damage, whereas vitamin C and vitamin E supplementation resulted in a color improvement of the loin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of supplemental tryptophan, vitamin E, and a herbal product on responses by pigs to vibration.
TL;DR: Ttryptophan had a positive behavioral effect in this experiment, and vitamin E and Sedafit mediated an increase in some heart variables, suggesting sedative and antianxiety effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of supplemental magnesium, tryptophan, vitamin C, and vitamin E on stress responses of pigs to vibration.
TL;DR: Results indicate that the supplementation of Trp, Mg, vit E, or vit C improved coping ability of pigs during vibration comparison with the negative control treatment, and vit E pigs produced the least cortisol during stress periods.
Journal Article
Effect of driver and driving style on the stress responses of pigs during a short journey by trailer
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the combined effect of driver and driving style on the behaviour, salivary cortisol concentration, and heart-rate variability of pigs during a short journey, and concluded that increased driver awareness of the effects of their driving on the responses of pigs, would improve pig welfare.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of temporary straw bedding on pigs’ behaviour, performance, cortisol and meat quality
TL;DR: It is concluded that straw redirects the pigs' behaviour from pen manipulation and pen mate manipulation to straw manipulation after straw provision, but that there are no or only minor differences in carcass quality, cortisol concentrations, intermediary metabolites, and meat quality of pigs given a temporary straw bedding of 6, 4, or 2 weeks before slaughter or no straw.
