Journal ArticleDOI

Variations of intracavitary applicator geometry during multiple HDR brachytherapy insertions in carcinoma cervix and its influence on reporting as per ICRU report 38.

TL;DR: A significant variation of the applicator geometry and its movement was observed in patients undergoing multiple HDR ICBT, which could have implications for reporting dose and volume specifications as required by ICRU report 38.
Journal ArticleDOI

A randomised trial of radiotherapy compared with cisplatin chemo-radiotherapy in patients with unresectable squamous cell cancer of the esophagus

TL;DR: The addition of concurrent cisplatin to radiotherapy resulted in a modest improvement in survival and was associated with manageable additional acute and late morbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative assessment of doses to tumor, rectum, and bladder as evaluated by orthogonal radiographs vs. computer enhanced computed tomography-based intracavitary brachytherapy in cervical cancer

TL;DR: Prescription based on Point A ICBT doses could lead to uncertainty and underdosage in tumor, and maximum bladder and rectal doses significantly underestimate the maximum doses to these organs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Problems in reporting doses and volumes during multiple high-dose-rate intracavitary brachytherapy for carcinoma cervix as per ICRU Report 38: a comparative study using flexible and rigid applicators.

TL;DR: Multiple HDR ICBT applications led to significant variation in the Applicator geometry and its positions in pelvis, irrespective of the applicator rigidity, which results in uncertainties in reporting as per ICRU Report 38 guidelines, and thus calls for its revision.
