Antibacterial tetraoxygenated xanthones from the immature fruits of Garcinia cowa

TL;DR: A phytochemical investigation of the acetone extract from the immature fruits of Garcinia cowa led to the isolation of two novel tetraoxygenated xanthones, garcicowanones A and B, which exhibited strong antibacterial activity against B. cereus and three Gram-positive strains.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tricycloalternarene derivatives from the endophytic fungus Guignardia bidwellii PSU-G11

TL;DR: Four new tricycloalternarene derivatives, guignarenones A–D (1–4), along with known (6S,9R)-vomifoliol were isolated from the endophytic fungus Guignardia bidwellii PSU-G11 and displayed mild cytotoxic activity against oral cavity cancer and African green monkey kidney fibroblast (Vero) cell lines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benzophenone and xanthone derivatives from the inflorescences of Garcinia cowa

TL;DR: The purification of the acetone extract from the inflorescences of Garcinia cowa led to the isolation of a new benzophenone derivative, cowanone, together with seven known xanthones, including α-mangostin, which were evaluated for their antibacterial activities against Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aUREus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Benzopyranone, benzophenone, and xanthone derivatives from the soil fungus Penicillium citrinum PSU-RSPG95

TL;DR: In this article, two new benzopyranones, named coniochaetones E (1) and F (2), one xanthone, penicillone C (3), and one new benzophenone (4) are isolated from the soil fungus Penicillium citrinum PSU-RSPG95, together with ten known compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxygenated xanthones and biflavanoids from the twigs of Garcinia xanthochymus

TL;DR: In this article, three new xanthones, xanthochymones A-C (1, 3), together with six known compounds including two xanthone, three biflavanoids, and one mellein derivative are isolated from the methanol extract of the twigs of Garcinia xanthophymus.
