TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyse the effects of de-regulation on technology acquisition and competitiveness in the Indian automobile industry during the 1980s and argue that asymmetry among firms in terms of technology acquisition (through technology imports and in-house efforts) explain much of the firm level differences in competitiveness.

Flood Risks, Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation Benefits in Mumbai: An Initial Assessment of Socio-Economic Consequences of Present and Climate Change Induced Flood Risks and of Possible Adaptation Options

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate an approach to assess future risks and quantify the benefits of adaptation options at a city-scale, with application to flood risk in Mumbai, and demonstrate that adaptation could significantly reduce future losses; for example, estimates suggest that by improving the drainage system, losses associated with a 1in100 year flood event today could be reduced by as much as 70%.

Technological Efforts, Firm Size and Exports in the Basic Chemical Industry in India

TL;DR: In this article, the role of technological efforts and firm size in determining the export behavior of firms belonging to the basic chemical industry in India was examined, and the authors found evidence in support of the view that export behaviour of the firm can be modelled in a more appropriate manner using a two-part or a sample selection model rather than the popular Tobit model.
