Simple suppression technique for higher-order mode amplification in bent large mode area triple-cladding fibers
Kunimasa Saitoh,Kentaro Ichii,Katsuhiro Takenaga,Shoji Tanigawa,Shoichiro Matsuo,Munehisa Fujimaki,Lorenzo Rosa,Masanori Koshiba +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel technique to suppress the higher-order mode in bent LMA triple-cladding fibers is proposed, which can be coupled to a cladding mode with only an adjustment of the bending diameter.
Journal ArticleDOI
A proposal of Mach-Zehnder mode/wavelength multi/demultiplexer based on Si/silica hybrid PLC platform
Misa Kudo,Shun Ohta,Eri Taguchi,Takeshi Fujisawa,Taiji Sakamoto,Takashi Matsui,Kyozo Tsujikawa,Kazuhide Nakajima,Kunimasa Saitoh +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a silica-PLC-based Mach-Zehnder (MZ) interferometer mode MUX, which is composed of bus and add waveguides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Six-mode scrambler based on cascaded side-wall grating waveguides
Takeshi Fujisawa,Taiji Sakamoto,Masashi Miyata,Takashi Matsui,Toshikazu Hashimoto,Ryoichi Kasahara,Takayoshi Mori,Ryota Imada,Kazuhide Nakajima,Kunimasa Saitoh +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Design of effectively single-mode air-core photonic bandgap fiber with improved transmission characteristics for the realization of ultimate low loss waveguide.
TL;DR: It is shown that the 7-unit-cell PBGF can achieve not only lower confinement loss than that of regular-type 7- Unit PBGF, but also lower power fraction in the silica-ring when compared with the regular 19- unit-cellPBGF with an anti-resonant core surround, exhibiting an effectively single-mode operation.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Wavefront-Matching-Method-Designed Six-Mode-Exchanger Based on Grating-Like Waveguide on Silica-PLC Platform
Takeshi Fujisawa,Taiji Sakamoto,Masashi Miyata,Takashi Matsui,Toshikazu Hashimoto,Ryoichi Kasahara,Kazuhide Nakajima,Kunimasa Saitoh +7 more
TL;DR: A first six-mode exchanger based on one sidewall grating-like waveguide is successfully designed with the help of strong optimization algorithm to compensate for mode-dependent-loss caused by fiber-waveguide junctions.
