A water vapor modulated aerosol impact on ice crystal size

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of aerosols on ice crystal effective radius (R ei ) under different meteorological conditions using 9-year satellite observations were investigated, and it was shown that the responses of R ei to aerosol loadings are modulated by water vapor amount in conjunction with several other meteorological parameters.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Radiative properties of ice crystals within cirrus clouds: application to remote sensing

TL;DR: In this article, a database of the optical properties of nonspherical ice crystals at the infrared wavelengths was developed and a fast infrared transfer model under cirrus cloudy condition, which is applied to the retrieval of ice clouds from satellite-based infrared measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Calculation on the light scattering function of hexagonal ice crystals

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of light absorption on phase function may cause decreases of scattering energy in side direction and the directions near backscattering, and weaken halo and rainbow peaks which are induced by the refractions and internal reflections.
