Journal ArticleDOI

Saturated fatty acids, but not unsaturated fatty acids, induce the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 mediated through Toll-like receptor 4.

TL;DR: A novel mechanism by which fatty acids modulate signaling pathways and target gene expression is represented by both SFA-induced COX-2 expression and its inhibition by UFAs are mediated through a common signaling pathway derived from Tlr4.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suppression of tumor cell growth both in nude mice and in culture by n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids: mediation through cyclooxygenase-independent pathways.

TL;DR: Results indicate that the suppression of tumor growth by dietary n-3 PUFAs is mediated through COX-independent pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI

The regulation of the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase by Src-family tyrosine kinases mediated through MyD88-independent signaling pathways of Toll-like receptor 4

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that STKs play a positive regulatory role in TLR4-mediated iNOS expression in a MyD88-independent (TRIF-dependent) manner and new insight is provided in understanding the role ofSTKs inTLR4 signaling pathways and inflammatory target gene expression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Activation and inactivation of cyclo-oxygenase in rat alveolar macrophages by aqueous cigarette tar extracts

TL;DR: The results suggest that, contrary to earlier reports, cigarette smoke stimulates the formation of PGs in alveolar macrophages and increased PG production may lead to suppressed immune response and enhanced risk of tumorigenesis in smokers' lungs.
