Phonon Scattering by Conduction Electrons and by Lattice Vacancies in Carbides of the Transition Metals
Journal ArticleDOI
Thermal Conductivity of Transition Metal Carbides
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that at high temperatures, point-defect scattering of phonons by carbon vacancies in the non-stoichiometric compounds dominate thermal conductivities of transition metal carbides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lattice Thermal Conductivity of Superconducting Niobium Carbide
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the lattice component of the thermal conductivity of the transition-metal carbides at low temperatures increases greatly below the critical temperature of Nb${\mathrm{C}_{0.96}$ through its superconducting critical temperature (9.8\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K) due to decreased phonon-electron scattering.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gap energy of superconducting niobium carbide.
TL;DR: In this article, the gap energy of a transition-metal carbide was estimated from thermal conductivity data on Nb${\mathrm{C}}_{0.96}$ and the best value was 3.1$ meV.
