Journal ArticleDOI

Stacking-fault tetrahedra in deformed face-centred cubic metals

TL;DR: In this article, a dislocation reaction is proposed for the formation of stacking-fault tetrahedra in plastically deformed specimens of copper, silver, gold and several alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Release of Energy during Annealing of Deformed Metals

TL;DR: The method described previously for measuring the energy stored in cold-worked metals has now been applied to nickel and arsenical copper as well as to pure copper as mentioned in this paper, and it is shown that a considerable proportion of the stored energy is released prior to recrystallization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Work hardening of metals

Journal ArticleDOI

The annealing of vacancies and vacancy aggregates in quenched gold, silver and copper

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the annealing behavior of copper quenched from high temperature is similar to that of silver, provided that care is taken in both cases to avoid contamination by oxygen.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of grain size on the stored energy and mechanical properties of copper

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the variation in mechanical properties and stored energy with deformation of commercial copper (99.98% Cu) of grain sizes 0.150 and 0.030 mm and found that the flow stress is higher for the fine-grained material at low strains and after sufficient strain the mechanical properties become the same for both grain sizes.
