The Release of Energy during Annealing of Deformed Metals

TL;DR: The method described previously for measuring the energy stored in cold-worked metals has now been applied to nickel and arsenical copper as well as to pure copper as mentioned in this paper, and it is shown that a considerable proportion of the stored energy is released prior to recrystallization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Work hardening of metals

Journal ArticleDOI

On the inhomogeneity of plastic deformation in the crystals of an aggregate

TL;DR: In this paper, the variation of plastic deformation in aluminium specimens consisting of large crystals has been determined by measuring elongation and hardness at various points after tensile deformation, and also within each grain the deformation near the boundary was greater or smaller than at the centre according to whether the neighbour was more or less deformed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The annealing of vacancies and vacancy aggregates in quenched gold, silver and copper

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the annealing behavior of copper quenched from high temperature is similar to that of silver, provided that care is taken in both cases to avoid contamination by oxygen.
