Organic electro-optics: exploiting the best of electronics and photonics
Larry R. Dalton,Bruce H. Robinson,Robert D. Nielsen,Alex K.-Y. Jen,Daniel Casmier,Payam Rabiei,William H. Steier +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the role of nanoscale architecture in systematically improving stability of organic electro-optic materials, as well as contributing to enhanced electrooptic activity and reduced optical loss, has been clarified.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Theory-guided enhancement of poling efficiency of organic electro-optic materials
Stephanie J. Benight,Lewis E. Johnson,Daniel B. Knorr,Denise H. Bale,Ilya Kosilkin,Benjamin C. Olbricht,Philip A. Sullivan,Philip J. Reid,Bruce H. Robinson,René M. Overney,Alex K.-Y. Jen,William H. Steier,Seong-Ku Kim,Harold R. Fetterman,Dennis W. Prather,Larry R. Dalton +15 more
TL;DR: Theoretical calculations have demonstrated that the ratio of second and third degree order parameters can define lattice dimensionality and furthermore, an increased ratio of the second to third degree orders represents reduced lattice dimensions.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Multiple slot waveguides for enhanced biochemical sensing
TL;DR: In this article, multiple slots in optical waveguides greatly increase evanescent field and surface area for interaction with surrounding media, leading to more than 5 times improvement of sensitivities for biochemical detections as confirmed by simulations and experiments.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
High-Speed Plasmonic Modulator for Simultaneous C- and O-Band Modulation with Simplified Fabrication
Andreas Messner,Pascal A. Jud,Joel Winiger,Wofgang Heni,Benedikt Baeuerle,Marco Eppenberger,Ueli Koch,Christian Haffner,Huajun Xu,Delwin L. Elder,Larry R. Dalton,Ping Ma,Juerg Leuthold +12 more
TL;DR: A plasmonic modulator spanning both C- and O-band for dual-band data modulation up to 100 Gbit/s in one single device is presented.
