Noncovalent functionalization of carbon nanotubes with molecular anchors using supercritical fluids
Leonard S. Fifield,Larry R. Dalton,R. Shane Addleman,Rosemary A. Galhotra,Mark H. Engelhard,Glen E. Fryxell,Christopher L. Aardahl +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a facile and effective method for the modification of multi wall carbon nanotubes with molecular anchor molecules using supercritical fluids is described, where the degree of loading in these nanotube-anchor structures can be controlled to achieve sub-monolayer, monolayer or greater-than-monoline coverage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dielectric dependence of the first molecular hyperpolarizability for electro-optic chromophores.
Denise H. Bale,Bruce E. Eichinger,Wenkel Liang,Xiaosong Li,Larry R. Dalton,Bruce H. Robinson,Philip J. Reid +6 more
TL;DR: The enhancement of β with increased dielectric constant suggests that modification of the dielectrics surrounding the chromophore is one path by which the performance of nonlinear optical devices employing these chromophores may be significantly enhanced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) Mach-Zehnder modulators for 100 GBd PAM4 signaling with sub-1 dB phase-shifter loss.
Clemens Kieninger,Christoph Füllner,Heiner Zwickel,Yasar Kutuvantavida,Juned N. Kemal,Carsten Eschenbaum,Delwin L. Elder,Larry R. Dalton,Wolfgang Freude,Sebastian Randel,Christian Koos +10 more
TL;DR: This report reports on compact and efficient silicon-organic hybrid (SOH) Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZM) with low phase-shifter insertion loss of 0.7 dB, which is the highest PAM4 data rate ever achieved for a sub-1 mm silicon photonic MZM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-V? electro-optic modulator with a high-?? chromophore and a constant-bias field
Antao Chen,Vadim Chuyanov,Sean M. Garner,Hua Zhang,William H. Steier,Jinghong Chen,Jingsong Zhu,Fang Wang,Mingqian He,Shane S. H. Mao,Larry R. Dalton +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a 2-cm-long birefringent polymer waveguide modulator at a wavelength of 1.3 µm with a constant bias electric field and a high-µ? chromophore was presented.
