Consideration of social determinants of health in preterm birth risk and resiliency scoring
Rebecca J. Baer,April J. Bell,Bridgette E. Blebu,Kim Coleman-Phox,Jean Costello,Elena Flowers,Kayla L. Karvonen,Miriam Kuppermann,Safyer McKenzie-Sampson,Monica R. McLemore,Scott P. Oltman,Aric A. Prather,Nicole Marie Santos,Karen A. Scott,Brianne Taylor,Larry Rand,Laura L. Jelliffe-Pawlowski +16 more
TL;DR: In this article , a preterm birth risk and resiliency score that includes variables associated with social determinants of health (SDoH) was created by adding beta-coefficients developed in the model.
Posted ContentDOI
Association of maternal prenatal copper concentration with gestational duration and preterm birth: a multi-country meta-analysis.
Nagendra Monangi,Rafeza Khanam,Wagma Khan,Saikat Deb,Jesmin Pervin,Joan T. Price,Abdullah Al Mahmud,Y. Fan,Le Quang Thanh,Angharad Care,Lovejeet Kaur,Julio Landero,Gerald F. Murphy,Larry Rand,Kelli K. Ryckman,Jeffrey C. Murray +45 more
TL;DR: A robust negative association between maternal mid-gestation Cu concentration and gestational duration and positive association with risk for preterm birth is supported and could be used as a potential marker of the integrated inflammatory pathways during pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cultural considerations and beliefs surrounding preterm birth in Kenya and South Africa
Cecilia Milford,Emma Katherine Smith,Kenneth Ngure,Nicholas B. Thuo,Sara J. Newmann,Mags Beksinska,Nelly Mugo,Larry Rand +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors explored knowledge, understandings, cultural beliefs and attitudes to pregnancy and preterm birth, as well as cultural considerations for the introduction of an intravaginal device which could be used to identify PTB risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Twin reversed arterial perfusion causes decreased fetal cerebral vascular impedance
Shabnam Peyvandi,Michael M. Brook,Vickie A. Feldstein,Shinjiro Hirose,Larry Rand,Anita J. Moon-Grady +5 more
TL;DR: Twin-reversed arterial perfusion sequence affects 1% of monochorionic twin pregnancies and is caused by abnormal vascular connections between a pump twin and an acardiac mass, suggestive of a brain-sparing effect.
