Journal ArticleDOI
Use of chitosan-based edible coatings in combination with other natural compounds, to control rhizopus stolonifer and escherichia coli dh5α in fresh tomatoes
Margarita de Lorena Ramos-García,Elsa Bosquez-Molina,Jesús Hernández-Romano,Guadalupe Zavala-Padilla,Eduardo Terrés-Rojas,Irán Alia-Tejacal,Laura Leticia Barrera-Necha,Mónica Hernández-López,Silvia Bautista-Baños +8 more
TL;DR: The application of chitosan-based edible coating containing beeswax and lime essential oil is promising to follow since it is an environmentally-friendly alternative to control this important pathogenic microorganism and export tomato producers might benefit from this nonchemical alternative.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of essential oils on the conidial germination, growth of colletotrichum gloeosporioides (penz.) penz. and sacc and control of postharvest diseases in papaya (carica papaya l.)
Laura Leticia Barrera-Necha,Silvia Bautista-Baños,Hilda Elizabeth Flores-Moctezuma,Abel Rojas Estudillo +3 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Extension of the postharvest quality of bell pepper by applying nanostructured coatings of chitosan with Byrsonima crassifolia extract (L.) Kunth
Adrián González-Saucedo,Laura Leticia Barrera-Necha,Rosa Isela Ventura-Aguilar,Zormy Nacary Correa-Pacheco,Silvia Bautista-Baños,Mónica Hernández-López +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the structure, chemical composition and biological activity of nanoparticles composed of chitosan (CNPs) with Byrsonima crassifolia extract (CENPs), with which two EC, ENC and ENEC were elaborated, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro antifungal activity of essential oils and their compounds on mycelial growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. gladioli (Massey) Snyder and Hansen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal evaluation of the postharvest fungicidal activity of powders and extracts of huamuchil (Pithecellobium dulce): action against Botrytris cinerea, Penicillium digitatum and Rhizopus stolonifer of strawberry fruit
Silvia Bautista-Baños,Silvia Bautista-Baños,E. Garcı́a-Domı́nguez,Laura Leticia Barrera-Necha,Ricardo Reyes-Chilpa,Charles L. Wilson +5 more
TL;DR: The highest fungistatic or fungicidal effect for both in vitro and in situ studies was recorded from extracts of leaves harvested in months having more stressful environmental conditions; the cold season (October/February) and, the dry, hot season (April and June).
