Journal ArticleDOI

A target-derived chemoattractant controls the development of the corticopontine projection by a novel mechanism of axon targeting.

TL;DR: Corticospinal axons extend collaterals in a directed manner to regions of the basilar pons deprived of cortical input, a behavior consistent with a response to a diffusible chemoattractant emanating from these regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): description of cell types in the granular layer.

TL;DR: In comparison to several other mammals, short‐axon cells in the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog have been found to be particularly abundant and to have more complex axonal systems, suggesting that some of them may represent inhibitory interneurons acting upon granule and periglomerular cells, playing an important role in the centrifugal pathway controlling the Olfactory input.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure of the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): a Golgi study of the intrinsic organization of the superficial layers.

TL;DR: The morphology of mitral, internal, and middle tufted cells is described with particular interest in the formation and arrangement of glomerular tufts by the primary dendrites, and the disposition of the secondary dendrite.
