Journal ArticleDOI
A target-derived chemoattractant controls the development of the corticopontine projection by a novel mechanism of axon targeting.
TL;DR: Corticospinal axons extend collaterals in a directed manner to regions of the basilar pons deprived of cortical input, a behavior consistent with a response to a diffusible chemoattractant emanating from these regions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): description of cell types in the granular layer.
TL;DR: In comparison to several other mammals, short‐axon cells in the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog have been found to be particularly abundant and to have more complex axonal systems, suggesting that some of them may represent inhibitory interneurons acting upon granule and periglomerular cells, playing an important role in the centrifugal pathway controlling the Olfactory input.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure of the olfactory bulb of the hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus): a Golgi study of the intrinsic organization of the superficial layers.
TL;DR: The morphology of mitral, internal, and middle tufted cells is described with particular interest in the formation and arrangement of glomerular tufts by the primary dendrites, and the disposition of the secondary dendrite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Astrocytes and neurons share region-specific transcriptional signatures that confer regional identity to neuronal reprogramming
Alvaro Herrero-Navarro,Lorenzo Puche-Aroca,Verónica Moreno-Juan,Alejandro Sempere-Ferràndez,Ana Espinosa,Rafael Susín,Laia Torres-Masjoan,Eduardo Leyva-Díaz,Marisa Karow,Marisa Karow,María Figueres-Oñate,Laura López-Mascaraque,José P. López-Atalaya,Benedikt Berninger,Benedikt Berninger,Guillermina López-Bendito +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that neurons and astrocytes express shared region-specific transcriptional and epigenetic signatures, which not only distinguish cells across these two brain regions but are also detected across substructures within regions, such as distinct thalamic nuclei.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hypothalamus-Olfactory System Crosstalk: Orexin A Immunostaining in Mice
Jean Gascuel,Jean Gascuel,Jean Gascuel,Aleth Lemoine,Aleth Lemoine,Aleth Lemoine,Caroline Rigault,Caroline Rigault,Caroline Rigault,Frédérique Datiche,Frédérique Datiche,Frédérique Datiche,Alexandre Benani,Alexandre Benani,Alexandre Benani,Luc Pénicaud,Luc Pénicaud,Luc Pénicaud,Laura López-Mascaraque +18 more
TL;DR: The developmental expression of orex in A supports the hypothesis that orexin expression only appears post-natally, and appears to be a good candidate to play a pivotal role in connecting olfactory and hypothalamic pathways.
