RegCM4 : model description and preliminary tests over multiple CORDEX domains

TL;DR: A new version of the RegCM regional climate modeling system, RegCM4, has been recently developed and made available for public use as discussed by the authors, which includes new land surface, planetary boundary layer, and air-sea flux schemes, a mixed convection and tropical band configuration, modifications to the pre-existing radiative transfer and boundary layer schemes, and a full upgrade of the model code towards improved flexibility, portability, and user friendliness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Higher Hydroclimatic Intensity with Global Warming

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce a new measure of hydroclimatic intensity (HY-INT), which integrates metrics of precipitation intensity and dry spell length, viewing the response of these two metrics to global warming as deeply interconnected.
Journal ArticleDOI

Uncertainties in daily rainfall over Africa: assessment of gridded observation products and evaluation of a regional climate model simulation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare three gridded observed daily rainfall datasets over Africa (FEWS (Famine Early Warning System), GPCP (Global Precipitation Climatology Project) and TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) in order to assess uncertainties in observation products towards the evaluation of the performance of a Regional Climate Model (RegCM3) in simulating daily precipitation characteristics over a domain encompassing the whole African continent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Multiyear simulation of the African climate using a regional climate model (RegCM3) with the high resolution ERA-interim reanalysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors examined the ability of the latest version of the ICTP regional climate model (RegCM3) to reproduce seasonal mean climatologies, annual cycle and interannual variability over the entire African continent and different climate subregions.
