Nano based drug delivery systems: recent developments and future prospects
Jayanta Kumar Patra,Gitishree Das,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto,Leonardo Fernandes Fraceto,Estefania Vangelie Ramos Campos,Estefania Vangelie Ramos Campos,Maria del Pilar Rodriguez-Torres,Laura Susana Acosta-Torres,Luis A. Diaz-Torres,Renato Grillo,Mallappa Kumara Swamy,Shivesh Sharma,Solomon Habtemariam,Han-Seung Shin +13 more
TL;DR: An updated summary of recent advances in the field of nanomedicines and nano based drug delivery systems through comprehensive scrutiny of the discovery and application of nanomaterials in improving both the efficacy of novel and old drugs and selective diagnosis through disease marker molecules is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytocompatible antifungal acrylic resin containing silver nanoparticles for dentures.
Laura Susana Acosta-Torres,Irasema Mendieta,Rosa Elvira Nuñez-Anita,Marcos Cajero-Juárez,Victor M. Castaño +4 more
TL;DR: Results show that PMMA-silver nanoparticle discs significantly reduce adherence of C. albicans and do not affect metabolism or proliferation, and appear not to cause genotoxic damage to cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biocompatible metal-oxide nanoparticles: nanotechnology improvement of conventional prosthetic acrylic resins
Laura Susana Acosta-Torres,Luz M. López-Marín,R. Elvira Núñez-Anita,Genoveva Hernández-Padrón,Victor M. Castaño +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of nanostructured materials, TiO2 and Fe2O3, for simultaneously coloring and/or improving the antimicrobial properties of PMMA resins was described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Copper: synthesis techniques in nanoscale and powerful application as an antimicrobial agent
B. A. Camacho-Flores,Omar Martínez-Alvarez,M.C. Arenas-Arrocena,René García-Contreras,Liliana Argueta-Figueroa,J. de la Fuente-Hernández,Laura Susana Acosta-Torres +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a brief overview of the several methods is made including the comparison of the methods, mainly between sonochemical, microwave, and chemical routes, to synthesize copper nanoparticles with physical and chemical properties suitable for the oral bacterial inhibition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nanomaterials made of non-toxic metallic sulfides: A systematic review of their potential biomedical applications.
Liliana Argueta-Figueroa,Omar Martínez-Alvarez,José Santos-Cruz,René García-Contreras,Laura Susana Acosta-Torres,J. de la Fuente-Hernández,M.C. Arenas-Arrocena +6 more
TL;DR: This systematic review shows that these metallic sulfides could be promising for biomedical uses and applications and provides a quick reference on synthesis methods, biocompatibility, recent advances and perspectives, with remarks on future improvements.
