A novel poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) with trifunctional ammonium moieties for alkaline anion exchange membranes

TL;DR: A quaternary ammonium functionalized poly(2,4,6-Tri(dimethylaminomethyl)-phenol was synthesized as a trifunctional moiety and incorporated onto poly (2,6,dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) to obtain a novel quaternally ammonium-functionalized PPO (TQA), which exhibited high conductivity, low swelling ratio and water uptake as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Piperidinium-functionalized anion exchange membranes and their application in alkaline fuel cells and water electrolysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a series of piperidinium-functionalized poly(2,6-dimethyl phenylene oxide)s with different locations along the polymer backbones were synthesized to produce a stable anion exchange membrane for deployable electrochemical devices with a long lifespan.
Journal ArticleDOI

A facile strategy for the synthesis of guanidinium-functionalized polymer as alkaline anion exchange membrane with improved alkaline stability

TL;DR: In this paper, a facile strategy for the synthesis of guanidinium-functionalized poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) with improved alkaline stability was developed by the reaction of bromomethylated poly( 2,6dimethyl 1,4-,phenylene dioxide) (BPPO) with 2-benzyl 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine (BTMG).
Journal ArticleDOI

1,2,3-Triazolium-Based Poly(2,6-Dimethyl Phenylene Oxide) Copolymers as Anion Exchange Membranes

TL;DR: The results suggests that the alkaline stability of 1,2,3-triazolium cation could be improved by the introduction of substituents at the C4, C5 positions and benzylic methylene, and also provide insight and directions for organic cation designs for AEM application by the facile synthetic strategy of "click chemistry".
Journal ArticleDOI

Practical implementation of bis-six-membered N-cyclic quaternary ammonium cations in advanced anion exchange membranes for fuel cells: Synthesis and durability

TL;DR: In this paper, a practical implementation of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) having N-cyclic quaternary ammonium (QA) in alkaline fuel cells is demonstrated.
