Cytotoxicity and proliferative capacity impairment induced on human brain cell cultures after short- and long-term exposure to magnetite nanoparticles.

TL;DR: Human cultured astrocytes were susceptible to both Fe3O4NP and bulk forms following short‐term and extended exposure to low concentrations, while neurons were more resistant to NPs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparing organic versus conventional soil management on soil respiration

TL;DR: Soil properties such as organic matter, nitrogen, and humidity, were comparable between conventional and organic soils in the present study, and in a further analysis there was no statically significant correlation with soil respiration.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling risk using Bayes theorem of infection by antibiotic-resistant Escherichia coli in rural and urban populations of Ecuador.

TL;DR: An urgent need to provide safe water sources to the population, as well as to instigate an environmental legislation reform that allows for controlling the release of emerging pollutants, including antibiotics, is shown.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ecoeficiencia de los modelos de producción agrícola de maíz duro y su influencia al cambio climático en shushufindi ecuador

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the eco-efficiency of three models of agricultural production of hard corn present in the Shushufindi canton, Ecuador, using a non-linear programming optimization (LPG) model.
Journal ArticleDOI

EVALUACIÓN IN VITRO DE LA REMOCIÓN DE PLOMO EN AGUAS RESIDUALES POR Photobacterium damselae

TL;DR: In order to mitigate the environmental impacts caused by lead in wastewater from sectors such as: mining, petrochemical, metallurgical and others, an in vitro evaluation of lead removal using Photobacterium damselae was carried out and the potential of this bacterium is inferred and opportunities are opened to continue studies in the future.
