Strong Ionospheric Spatial Gradient Events Induced by Signal Propagation Paths Aligned With Equatorial Plasma Bubbles

TL;DR: In this paper , an investigation of the relationship between plasma depletions, the occurrence of scintillation, and strong ionospheric spatial decorrelation events was conducted, and the results indicated that strong scintillations occur when large gradients are verified, mostly under certain conditions: when satellite signals are aligned with the plasma bubble propagation along geomagnetic field lines.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reexamining Low-Latitude Ionospheric Error Bounds: An SBAS Approach for Brazil

TL;DR: An availability assessment for APV-I shows that the planar fit model with a spatial decorrelation standard deviation of 1 m provides the best availability for quiet days, while a quadratic fit with a decorrelation parameter of 2 m results in better availability for active days.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the field validation of α-μ fading coefficients estimator based on the autocorrelation function for ionospheric amplitude scintillation

TL;DR: A new method for the estimation of the α-μ coefficients based on theα-μ autocorrelation function is proposed, validated using field data and comparing the results from empirical autoc orrelation function with the results obtained from the moment-based estimator.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Retrospective of Global Navigation Satellite System Ionospheric Irregularities Monitoring Networks in Brazil

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors present a retrospective of the scintillation monitoring networks in Brazil and their characteristics, as well as a description of the RBMC GNSS receivers, which provide data in regions with scarcity of ISMR monitors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Safety Analysis of GNSS Parallel Runway Approach Operation at Guarulhos International Airport

TL;DR: In this article , the authors demonstrate the suitability and advantages of the System-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes/Systems-theoretic Process Analysis (STAMP/STPA) method to be applied to the risk assessment of an operational air traffic modification.
