Preliminary Design of a Trench Cutter System for Deep-Sea Mining Applications Under Hyperbaric Conditions
Giovanni Spagnoli,S.A. Miedema,Christian Herrmann,Johann Rongau,Leonhard Weixler,Julien Denegre +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used an atmospheric and hyperbaric cutting model to estimate the cutting energy for two selected massive sulfide (SMS) deposits and validated it with real onshore excavation sites performed with a cutting tool normally used for diaphragm wall installation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design of a novel drilled-and-grouted pile in sand for offshore oil&gas structures
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe a novel drilled pile, which has been developed specifically to provide a cost effective installation process while maintaining the benefits of grouted piles, and the installation process negates the need for temporary casing in weak soils and minimizes the number of offshore operations.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Latest Technological Developments in Offshore Deep Mixing for Piled Oil and Gas Platforms
TL;DR: In this article, the MIxed Drilled Offshore Steel (MIDOS) pile is introduced, which takes advantage of such deep mixing technologies, and a comparison between the API approach and CPT-based methods for the prediction of the pile capacity are provided to validate the capability of the MIDOS pile as a foundational element for oil&gas structures in different geological conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trench Cutter Case Histories and Their Possible Application for Offshore Piles as Relieve Drilling
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe four onshore trench cutter case histories in hard geology and show how the trench cutter technology might be a suitable technology for supporting monopile installation in difficult sea beds.
Patent
Boring device and boring method
TL;DR: In this paper, a rotary connection between the casing tube and the mounting frame of a boring tool was proposed. But the tool was not used to produce a bore with a casing tube.
