Journal ArticleDOI
Three- and four-year cognitive outcome in children with noncortical brain tumors treated with whole-brain radiotherapy.
Jerilynn Radcliffe,Roger J. Packer,Thomas E. Atkins,Greta R. Bunin,Luis Schut,Joel W. Goldwein,Leslie N. Sutton +6 more
TL;DR: Cognitive function and school achievement were studied prospectively over 3 to 4 years in 19 children treated for brain tumors with whole‐brain radiotherapy and special education at follow‐up; 50% of the children over 7 years at diagnosis were receiving supplemental educational services.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fetal myelomeningocele repair: the post-MOMS experience at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Julie S. Moldenhauer,Shelly Soni,Natalie E. Rintoul,Susan S. Spinner,Nahla Khalek,Juan Martinez-Poyer,Alan W. Flake,Holly L. Hedrick,William H. Peranteau,Norma Rendon,Jamie Koh,Lori J. Howell,Gregory G. Heuer,Leslie N. Sutton,Mark P. Johnson,N. Scott Adzick +15 more
TL;DR: In an experienced program, maternal and neonatal outcomes for patients undergoing fMMC repair are comparable to results of the MOMS trial.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic factors in childhood ependymomas.
Leslie N. Sutton,Joel W. Goldwein,Giorgio Perilongo,B. Lang,Luis Schut,Lucy B. Rorke,Roger J. Packer +6 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that the use of adjuvant chemotherapy with CCNU, vincristine, and cisplatinum does not improve progression-free survival in childhood ependymoma, and that the extent of surgical resection is a major determinant of outcome in this disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Updated results of a pilot study of low dose craniospinal irradiation plus chemotherapy for children under five with cerebellar primitive neuroectodermal tumors (medulloblastoma)
Joel W. Goldwein,Joel W. Goldwein,Jerilynn Radcliffe,James H. Johnson,Thomas Moshang,Roger J. Packer,Leslie N. Sutton,Lucy B. Rorke,Giulio J. D'Angio,Giulio J. D'Angio +9 more
TL;DR: Data suggest that medulloblastoma patients can be cured with chemotherapy and reduced doses of craniospinal irradiation and cis-platin-based chemotherapy, and growth velocities in very young children so treated are dramatically reduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Choroid plexus carcinoma of childhood
Roger J. Packer,Giorgio Perilongo,Dennis L. Johnson,Leslie N. Sutton,Gilbert Vezina,Robert A. Zimmerman,Janis Ryan,Gregory H. Reaman,Luis Schut +8 more
TL;DR: Adjuvant therapy for children with choroid plexus carcinomas is of unproven benefit, and this must be considered when analyzing innovative treatment trials for such children, especially for those with totally resected tumors.
