Vertical transmission of African-lineage Zika virus through the fetal membranes in a rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta) model

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors found evidence that fetal membranes are an essential barrier to pathogens that warrant further investigation, and showed that ZIKV can reach the MFI by six days post-infection and infect the fetus by ten days.
Journal ArticleDOI

Porphyromonas gingivalis-mediated disruption in spiral artery remodeling is associated with altered uterine NK cell populations and dysregulated IL-18 and Htra1

TL;DR: In this article , the impact of P. gingivalis infection on the earlier stages of spiral artery remodeling was identified, and the results suggest disturbances in placental bed decidual stroma and uNK cells are involved in P.givalis -induced IRSA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential affinity chromatography reveals a link between Porphyromonas gingivalis–induced changes in vascular smooth muscle cell differentiation and the type 9 secretion system

TL;DR: In this article , a rat aorta and aortic smooth muscle cells (AoSMCs) were identified as a bait to identify P. gingivalis proteins associated with dysregulated VSMC plasticity as seen in IRSA.

Nano-Emulsion Adjuvant Enhances Cross-presentation by Lipid Body Formation Independent of Glycolysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a carbomer-based adjuvant, Adjuplex(R) (ADJ), was found to stimulate robust CD8 T-cell responses to subunit antigens by modulating multiple steps in the cytosolic pathway of cross-presentation, and afforded effective immunity against virus and intracellular bacteria.

Pseudoaneurysm of the Lateral Femoral Artery: A Systematic Review of a Rare Complication in Patients With Pertrochanteric Fractures

TL;DR: This patient is the first reported case of spontaneous resolution of pseudoaneurysm associated with pertrochanteric hip fracture, and there seems to be some consensus in maintaining a high clinical suspicion for early intervention, thus obtaining better outcomes.
