Journal ArticleDOI

Radiation tolerance of complex oxides

TL;DR: Preliminary radiation damage experiments substantiate the prediction that fluorites are inherently more radiation resistant than pyrochlores, and may permit the chemical durability and radiation tolerance of potential hosts for actinides and radioactive wastes to be tailored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Disorder in Pyrochlore Oxides

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the experimentally observed stability range of the pyrochlore structure to A and B cation size and disorder, and found that disorder enthalpies decrease dramatically with increasing Bcation size.
Journal ArticleDOI

Defect cluster formation in M2O3-doped CeO2

TL;DR: In this article, atomic simulation calculations based on energy minimisation techniques have been used to study the energetics associated with M2O3 solution in CeO2, and the binding energy of an oxygen vacancy to one or two substitutional cations is a strong function of dopant cation radius; small dopant ions prefer to occupy first neighbor sites, large dopant ion prefer second neighbor sites.
Journal ArticleDOI

Defect cluster formation in M2O3-doped cubic ZrO2

TL;DR: In this paper, atomistic simulation calculations based on energy minimization techniques have been used to study the energetics associated with M2O3 solution in ZrO2.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oxygen migration in La2NiO4 + δ

TL;DR: In this article, an atomic scale computer simulation based on energy minimization and minimization techniques has been used to study excess oxygen accommodation and migration in the human body in La2NiO4++δ.
