Journal ArticleDOI

Functional characterization of three trehalase genes regulating the chitin metabolism pathway in rice brown planthopper using RNA interference.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that TRE silencing could affect the regulation of chitin biosynthesis and degradation, causing moulting deformities, and expression inhibitors of TREs might be effective tools for the control of planthoppers in rice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Knockdown of two trehalose-6-phosphate synthases severely affects chitin metabolism gene expression in the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens

TL;DR: These results demonstrate that silencing of TPS genes can lead to increased moulting deformities and mortality rates owing to the misregulation of genes involved in chitin metabolism, and T PS genes are potential pest control targets in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI

Knockdown of five trehalase genes using RNA interference regulates the gene expression of the chitin biosynthesis pathway in Tribolium castaneum

TL;DR: These results demonstrate that silencing of any individual trehalase gene, especially Tre1-4 and Tre2 gene can lead to moulting deformities and a high mortality rate through the regulation of gene expression in the chitin biosynthesis pathway and may be a potential approach for pest control in the future.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhibitional Effects of Metal Zn2+ on the Reproduction of Aphis medicaginis and Its Predation by Harmonia axyridis

TL;DR: The results suggest that Zn2+ can significantly affect the reproductive capacity of both A. medicaginis and its predator H. axyridis, the former through effects on the expression of AmVg and the latter through avoidance of aphids containing high levels ofZn2+.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cloning Three Harmonia axyridis (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) Heat Shock Protein 70 Family Genes: Regulatory Function Related to Heat and Starvation Stress

TL;DR: Two new HSP70 cDNAs were cloned from the multicolored Asian lady beetle, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas) (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) to gain insight into the various functions of the H SP70 family genes in response to stress in insects.
