Journal ArticleDOI

Profile and prevalence of aspirin resistance in patients with cardiovascular disease.

TL;DR: There was a trend toward increased age in patients with aspirin resistance or aspirin semiresponders, and there were no differences in aspirin sensitivity by race, diabetes, platelet count, renal disease, or liver disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of antiplatelet drugs, heparin, and preanalytical variables on platelet function detected by the platelet function analyzer (PFA-100).

TL;DR: In ten patients who were followed during abciximab therapy to assess the effect of aperture size, the PFA-100® was able to detect in vivo platelet inhibition by abcximab, but detection of recovery from ab cix imab-induced platelet dysfunction was slightly better for the P FA-100®, with the 120 μm aperture compared to the standard 150 μmperture collagen/ADP cartridge.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro efficacy of platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa antagonist in blocking platelet function in plasma of patients with heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.

TL;DR: It is suggested that abciximab may be useful in treatment of patients with HIT and warrants further clinical evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of hirudin vs heparin on haemostatic activity in patients with acute coronary syndromes; the GUSTO-IIb haemostasis substudy.

TL;DR: Hirudin appeared to inhibit thrombin activity more than did heparin and produced slower increases inThrombin formation after discontinuation, raising the possibility of improving on current antithrombotics by preventing throm bin generation and throm Bin activity and by sustained suppression of the prothrombotic state.
