A Graphene Oxide˙Streptavidin Complex for Biorecognition – Towards Affinity Purification
Zunfeng Liu,Linhua Jiang,F. Galli,Igor Nederlof,René C. L. Olsthoorn,Gerda E. M. Lamers,Tjerk H. Oosterkamp,Jan Pieter Abrahams +7 more
TL;DR: The purification, sample preparation, and characterization are rolled into one single step, demonstrating the usefulness of the GO·streptavidin complex as a docking matrix for affinity purification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recycling of Aborted Ribosomal 50S Subunit-Nascent Chain-tRNA Complexes by the Heat Shock Protein Hsp15.
Linhua Jiang,Christiane Schaffitzel,Rouven Bingel-Erlenmeyer,Nenad Ban,Philipp Korber,Roman I. Koning,Daniël C. de Geus,Jasper R. Plaisier,Jan Pieter Abrahams +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown with cryo-electron microscopy reconstructions and functional assays that Hsp15 translocates the tRNA moiety from the A site to the P site of stalled 50S subunits, suggesting a possible role for a poorly characterized class of putative release factors that are upregulated by cellular stress, lack a codon recognition domain and are conserved in eukaryotes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unit-cell determination from randomly oriented electron-diffraction patterns
TL;DR: An algorithm is described that calculates the most likely primitive unit cell given a set of randomly oriented electron-diffraction patterns with unknown angular relationships.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stable Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube-Streptavidin Complex for Biorecognition
Zunfeng Liu,F. Galli,Kjeld G. H. Janssen,Linhua Jiang,Heiko J. van der Linden,Daniël C. de Geus,Patrick Voskamp,Maxim E. Kuil,René C. L. Olsthoorn,Tjerk H. Oosterkamp,Thomas Hankemeier,Jan Pieter Abrahams +11 more
TL;DR: Capturing biotinylated DNA, fluorophores, and Au nanoparticles on the SWNT−streptavidin complexes demonstrates their usefulness as a docking matrix, for instance for electron microscopy studies, a technique requiring a virtually electron transparent support.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of Medipix2 detector for recording electron diffraction data in low dose conditions
Dilyana Georgieva,J Jansen,I. Sikharulidze,Linhua Jiang,Henny W. Zandbergen,Jan Pieter Abrahams +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the characteristics of the Medipix2 detector in diffraction studies, with a special focus on the reliability of the intensities acquired in very low dose conditions.
