Polymorphisms in the VKORC1 gene are strongly associated with warfarin dosage requirements in patients receiving anticoagulation
Tao Li,Leslie A. Lange,Xiangli Li,Lisa Susswein,Betsy Bryant,Robb Malone,Ethan M. Lange,Teng-Ti Huang,Darrel W. Stafford,James P. Evans +9 more
TL;DR: The consistent findings regarding the role of VKORC1 and CYP2C9 in warfarin metabolism and maintenance dosage represent a clinically useful proof of principal for the use of pharmacogenomic information in medicine and may lead to improved understanding of warFarin’s actions.

Racial Differences in Enrolment in a Cancer Genetics Registry
Patricia G. Moorman,Celette Sugg Skinner,James P. Evans,Beth Newman,James R. Sorenson,Brian Calingaert,Lisa Susswein,T. Sydnee Crankshaw,Cathrine Hoyo,Joellen M. Schildkraut +9 more
TL;DR: For example, this paper found that African American women were less likely to enroll in the cancer genetics registry than white women. But, the only significant predictor of enrolment in multivariable models was race.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ethical issues in identifying and recruiting participants for familial genetic research.
Laura M. Beskow,Jeffrey R. Botkin,Mary B. Daly,Eric T. Juengst,Lisa Soleymani Lehmann,Jon F. Merz,Rebecca D. Pentz,Nancy Press,Lainie Friedman Ross,Jeremy Sugarman,Lisa Susswein,Sharon F. Terry,Melissa A. Austin,Wylie Burke +13 more
TL;DR: There is no single correct approach, but recommend a balanced approach that takes into account the nature of the particular study as well as its recruitment goals, and a framework for considering alternative recruitment strategies and their implications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Telephoned BRCA1/2 Genetic Test Results: Prevalence, Practice, and Patient Satisfaction
TL;DR: Supportive results for the routine provision of BRCA1/2 genetic test results by telephone are found and suggest that test results should be delivered as swiftly as possible once available and that offering patients a choice of how to receive results is desirable.
Journal ArticleDOI
Increased Uptake of BRCA1/2 Genetic Testing Among African American Women With a Recent Diagnosis of Breast Cancer
Lisa Susswein,Cécile Skrzynia,Leslie A. Lange,Jessica K. Booker,Mark L. Graham,James P. Evans +5 more
TL;DR: African American race was associated with an overall decreased uptake of BRCA1/2 genetic testing, even when barriers of ascertainment and cost were minimized, however, among African American women, a recent diagnosis of breast cancer wasassociated with substantially increased uptake of testing.
