Journal ArticleDOI
Antibodies against citrullinated proteins enhance tissue injury in experimental autoimmune arthritis
Kristine A. Kuhn,Liudmila Kulik,Beren H. Tomooka,Kristin J. Braschler,William P. Arend,William H. Robinson,V. Michael Holers +6 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that antibodies against citrullinated proteins are centrally involved in the pathogenesis of autoimmune arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI
N-α-Benzoyl-N5-(2-Chloro-1-Iminoethyl)-l-Ornithine Amide, a Protein Arginine Deiminase Inhibitor, Reduces the Severity of Murine Collagen-Induced Arthritis
Van C. Willis,Alison M. Gizinski,Nirmal K. Banda,Corey P. Causey,Bryan Knuckley,Kristen N. Cordova,Yuan Luo,Brandt Levitt,Magdalena J. Glogowska,Piyanka E Chandra,Liudmila Kulik,William H. Robinson,William P. Arend,Paul R. Thompson,V. Michael Holers +14 more
TL;DR: Results suggested that PADs are necessary participants in the autoimmune and subsequent inflammatory processes in CIA and Cl-amidine may represent a novel class of disease-modifying agents that modulate aberrant citrullination, and perhaps other immune processes, necessary for the development of inflammatory arthritis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mice Deficient in Complement Receptors 1 and 2 Lack a Tissue Injury-Inducing Subset of the Natural Antibody Repertoire
Sherry D. Fleming,Terez Shea-Donohue,Terez Shea-Donohue,Joel M. Guthridge,Liudmila Kulik,Thomas J. Waldschmidt,Matthew G. Gipson,George C. Tsokos,George C. Tsokos,V. Michael Holers +9 more
TL;DR: CR2/CR1 play an unanticipated but critical role in the development of a subset of the natural Ab repertoire that has particular importance in the pathogenesis of IR injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liposomes with phosphatidylethanol as a carrier for oral delivery of insulin: studies in the rat.
M.A. Kisel,Liudmila Kulik,I.S. Tsybovsky,A.P. Vlasov,M. S. Vorobyov,E.A. Kholodova,Z.V. Zabarovskaya +6 more
TL;DR: No correlation between insulin level and glucose concentration in the rat blood after oral administration of phosphatidylinositol-containing liposome was observed, and hyperinsulinemia induced by liposomes containing dipalmitoyl phosphatIDylethanol was attended by a decrease of blood glucose concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pathogenic Natural Antibodies Recognizing Annexin IV Are Required to Develop Intestinal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury
Liudmila Kulik,Sherry D. Fleming,Chantal Moratz,Jason W. Reuter,Aleksey Novikov,Kuan Chen,Kathy A. Andrews,Adam Markaryan,Richard J. Quigg,Gregg J. Silverman,George C. Tsokos,V. Michael Holers +11 more
TL;DR: The data in toto identify annexin IV as a key ischemia-related target Ag that is recognized by natural Abs in a pathologic process required in vivo to develop intestinal IR injury.
