A wide variety of media can be used in learning, including distance learning, such as print, lectures, conference sections, tutors, pictures, video, sound, and computers. Any one instance of distance learning will make choices among these media, perhaps using several.

Multimedia in Learning

The application of blended learning in higher education has practically increased through the years, this is however aimed to develop the students rare 21st century skills. Furthermore, the present study investigates the differences in learning process across one semester, and the research design comprised of quasi experimental method without conducting any pre-test, particularly for the conventional and blended learning class. Therefore, self-evaluation questionnaire on 21st century skills were distributed, and the experimental outcome revealed the significant skill practice performed by students in blended learning classes compared to the counterparts in conventional programmes. This learning method was assessed to contain soft and hard skills, in addition to an increased GPA. The aim of this study, therefore, is to investigate the impact of blended learning in course application, with the goal of optimizing students’ 21st century skills and GPA.

Students’ Practices of 21st Century Skills between Conventional learning and Blended Learning

The abrupt transition in teaching and learning styles and the challenges faced by online tutors as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic are increasing areas of research. At the University of the Western Cape (UWC) preparing for the transition had an impact on tutors who had to make major adjustments to their tutoring. The research presented here investigated the perceptions of tutors and the challenges they faced by restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic as they adapted to teaching remotely, and the limitations of access to online resources. A mainly qualitative approach with an element of triangulation was followed, in which qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. All participants agreed that the abrupt transition to online teaching and learning highlighted the type of conversations that should take place to fast track processes and provide greater online resources and support for tutors. These findings agreed with research conducted by international scholars. More research that focuses on tutors and how they were affected by the abrupt transition to online teaching in relation to the provision of data is necessary.

The Perception of Digital Academic Literacy Tutors during the COVID-19 Pandemic at the University of the Western Cape

This study aims to describe the implementation of online-based Project Based Learning in the Arabic-Malay Script Course in Semester V of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, FKIP, Jambi University. The method used is an action research method. Sources of data in the form of stimulus and student responses in learning. The results of the study concluded that the implementation of PJBL in the Malay Arabic Script course had been carried out well. This is evidenced by the students' awareness of the importance of the Malay Arabic script.

The Implementation Of Online-Based Project Based Learning During The Covid-19 Pandemic In Malay Arabic Courses Semester V In Indonesian Literatures Jambi University

Most businesses today have started utilizing innovative informational technologies such as digital marketing, fin-tech, digital human resources management and business analytics. Educating people on these new skills presents a business opportunity for educational technology (edtech) companies. Many technology-enhanced learning (TEL)-based business education programmes are being developed recently, promising to enhance professional skills and knowledge. The marketing information surrounding these programmes overloads learners’ minds and makes it impossible to determine which programmes are worth their time and money. Such learning solutions are developed using competency-based education (CBE) frameworks and by leveraging TEL environments. Moreover, the complexity of CBE-TEL-based interventions makes it difficult to evaluate their quality. The present study intends to overcome this challenge by identifying the qualitative factors that enhance professional competence in TEL environments. The study proposed a new model called ‘Competence Based Technology Enabled Learning’ (COBTEL), which has been empirically tested for its validity and reliability. The model is analysed using partial least squares algorithm-based structural equation modelling to evaluate TEL-based programmes’ competence-enhancing aspects from the learners’ perspective. In addition, the utilization of the COBTEL model would assist institutes, universities and governments in improving the quality of management education programmes. 

A Proposed Model for Evaluating Quality of Technology Enabled Learning in Management Education Programmes

Background: The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic led to the global change of academic learning strategy from classroom to online mode. Before the emergence of the virus, online learning at a medium scale has been implemented to support the educational system in Indonesia. However, due to the pandemic and to reduce the spread of the virus, online learning became the main and sole place of learning. Objective: This study investigates the implementation and effectiveness of online learning at the faculty of humanities at a University in Jambi, Indonesia, since the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is quantitative research. Self-report questionnaires with 5-point Likert scales were used to obtain data from 441 respondents by using the Survey Monkey application. Result: The result showed that online learning was not implemented at the top level of 4.20, using an inadequate replacement process. Furthermore, all categories of online learning implementation, such as design, course communication, time management, and technical skills, were not optimally obtained, while the categories were inadequately effective in replacing classroom learning. Conclusion: Online learning was unable to replace classroom learning because its implementation and effectiveness failed to meet policymakers’ expectations at the university level. Therefore, there is a need for the increase in teachers’ competence and usage intensity regarding online learning in faculties and universities.

The Effective Use of Full Online Learning to Replace Classroom Learning During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Penelitian dalam jurnal ini dilakukan dengan tujuan yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan makna denotasi dan makna konotasi yang terdapat pada cerpen kontemporer berjudul Megatruh yang terdapat dalam kumpulan cerpen Adam Marifat karya Danarto. Cerpen kontemporer didefinisikan sebagai salah satu bentuk dari protes terhadap permasalahan-permasalahan yang muncul dan dimulai sejak awal era industrialisasi. Adapun jenis pendekatan yang digunakan dalam jurnal ini yaitu berupa pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif yang dilakukan dengan cara dengan menghimpun dan menganalisis seluruh dokumen berdasarkan kajian teori semiotika Roland Barthes yang telah dipilih. Dokumen yang dimaksud yaitu cerpen Megatruh karya Danarto. Dokumen yang sudah diperoleh kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan struktur fisik dan struktur batin serta dipadukan sehingga menjadi satu hasil kajian yang sistematis dan utuh. Dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa hasil penelitian makna denotasi dan makna konotasi yang terdapat pada cerpen kontemporer berjudul Megatruh yang terdapat dalam kumpulan cerpen Adam Marifat karya Danarto yaitu, (1) makna denotasi dan makna konotasi hampir terdapat diseluruh halaman cerita, dengan beberapa bagian kalimat yang tampak lebih menonjol, (2) cerpen mendeskripsikan tokoh utama yang menikmati kegiatannya dengan kadal, batang pisang, dan zat asam, yang sebenarnya merupakan imajinasi terakhir sebelum ia dijemput oleh ajalnya, (3) cerpen ini menceritakan kehidupan seseorang pada detik detik terakhir sebelum roh dan raganya terpisah oleh kematian. 

Analisis Semiotika pada Cerpen Kontemporer Megatruh Karya Danarto

As one of the literary genres, poetry has also begun to experience new forms of adaptation in the world of digital literature. One of these forms is audio-visual literature. Audio-visual poetry uses media such as YouTube as its publication medium. This can be seen in the emergence of youtube accounts that consistently produce audio-visual poems. The audio-visual poems on several accounts have even been watched by millions of viewers. This study aims to determine the physical and mental structure of audio-visual poems on these accounts and to describe the appearance of audio-visual poetry on Youtube digital media. This research is included in descriptive qualitative research. This study analyzes 12 Youtube audio-visual poems that are considered the most popular. The audio-visual poems were taken from 6 different Youtube channels, namely the poems “Ajari Aku untuk Melepaskanmu” and “Rindu untuk Ayah” from Pena Safa's Youtube account. Poems “Ketika Kukira Aku Istimewa” and “Harapan yang Tumbuh, Hati Yang Patah”from the Fictionalism Youtube account. The poems “Curahan Hati Seorang Perokok” and “Rokok dan Kamu 2” from the Normantin TV Youtube account. Poems “Cinta” and “Rasa dan Perasaan” from Ega Nugraha's Youtube account. The poems “Sakitnya Aku Mencintaimu” and “Ingin Menangis Sebentar Saja” from the Youtube account Jejak Sulas. The poems "“Menangislah” and “Desember dan Lukanya”Some poems such as "When I Think I'm Special" and “Cinta” are not the work of the Youtube account owner, but are the work of other people who are read out. The poem “Ketika Kukira Aku Istimewa” is the work of Fiersa Bersari and the poem “Cinta” is a famous poem by Khalil Gibran. The aspects analyzed are the physical and mental structure as well as the audio-visual form of poetry on the digital media Youtube. Most of Youtube's audio-visual poems that have a high number of viewers do not yet have a complete physical and mental structure of poetry. Audio Visual forms on Youtube audio visual poetry are very free and depend on the creativity of the owner.

This study aims to find meaning distortions, shifts in meaning, matrices, models, variants, and hypograms of Umar Kayam's short story Seribu Fireflies in Manhattan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection method used is the hermeneutic method which adheres to Riffaterre's semiotic theory. From the research that has been done, it is found that there are four possible stories and two types of indirect expressions in this short story in the form of meaning distortion which includes metaphor and metonymy, and replacement of meaning which includes contradiction, ambiguity, and nonsense. The matrix of this short story is a two-way conversation between Jane and Marno who leads the whole story with a romantic but firm model by Umar Kayaman. The conclusion of the research that can be drawn is that short stories can be categorized as contemporary literary works because of the complexity of the language style, the indirect expression in this short story is in the form of deviation and substitution of meaning, and the matrix of this short story is a two-way conversation between Jane and Marno who leads the whole story with a model that romantic but firm

Analisis semiotika riffaterre pada cerpen seribu kunang-kunang di manhattan karya umar kayam

This research was conducted using a semiotic code study. The focus of semiotics used in this study is based on the concept of Roland Barthes, with the aim of knowing the codes in the short story Tamu by Budi Darma. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method in literary works, namely the short story Tamu by Budi Darma in analyzing it. While the reading technique was used for data collection used by researchers, besides that note-taking techniques were also used in the research conducted. while the data analysis technique used in this research is to use descriptive analysis method. The results of the analysis of this research are the codes in the semiotics of Roland Barthes' concept, namely the hermeneutic code, connotation code, symbolic code, action code, and cultural code. The 10 data consist of 3 hermenuetic codes, 1 connotation code, 3 symbolic codes, 2 action codes and 1 cultural code.
