Practical cobalt carbonyl catalysis in the thermal Pauson--Khand reaction: efficiency enhancement using Lewis bases.

TL;DR: This report has dispelled the common belief that Co(4)(CO)(12) is inactive in the Pauson--Khand reaction under one atmosphere of carbon monoxide and provided more practical protocols for the P Auson-Khand Reaction using catalytic amounts of cobalt carbonyl complexes and a better understanding of the influence of Lewis bases on their efficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cobalt carbonyl-mediated carbocyclizations of enynes: generation of bicyclooctanones or monocyclic alkenes.

TL;DR: Depending on the thermolytic conditions, dicobalthexacarbonyl-complexed enynes underwent cyclizations to provide different carbocyclic frameworks, which depicts another example of an interruption of the normal route in the Pauson-Khand reaction pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of medium-sized rings using the intramolecular Pauson–Khand reaction

TL;DR: The dicobalthexacarbonyl alkyne complex of a series of enynes templated on aromatic rings has been shown to undergo the Pauson-Khand reaction to generate medium-sized rings as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modification and limitations of the Livinghouse catalytic Pauson-Khand reaction

TL;DR: The difficult and impractical purification of Co 2 (CO) 8 is not necessary in the catalytic thermal Pauson-Khand reaction described by Livinghouse as mentioned in this paper, but it is possible to perform it in the case of CO 2.
