Journal ArticleDOI

Production of pectinases by solid-state fermentation of a mixture of citrus waste and sugarcane bagasse in a pilot-scale packed-bed bioreactor

TL;DR: In this paper, Aspergillus oryzae was used in a pilot-scale packed-bed bioreactor, on 15 kg of a substrate containing 51.6% citrus pulp and 48.4% sugarcane bagasse (w/w, dry basis).
Journal ArticleDOI

Production of pectinases by solid-state fermentation in a pilot-scale packed-bed bioreactor

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors scaled up the production of pectinases in packed-bed bioreactors, from 12 to 30 kg of dry substrate, the biggest scale yet reported for Pectinase production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization studies to develop a low-cost medium for production of the lipases of Rhizopus microsporus by solid-state fermentation and scale-up of the process to a pilot packed-bed bioreactor

TL;DR: This work scaled up the production of FS containing the lipases of Rhizopus microsporus, using a low-cost medium containing wheat bran and sugarcane bagasse, supplemented only with urea to produce the largest scale yet reported for lipase production in SSF.
Book ChapterDOI

Design and Operation of a Pilot-Scale Packed-Bed Bioreactor for the Production of Enzymes by Solid-State Fermentation.

TL;DR: It is shown that, at pilot scale, special attention must be given to several aspects that are not usually problematic when one works with laboratory-scale SSF bioreactors, and how a mathematical model that describes heat and water transfer in the bed can be a useful tool in developing appropriate control schemes.
