Whole brain resting-state analysis reveals decreased functional connectivity in major depression
Ilya M. Veer,Ilya M. Veer,Christian F. Beckmann,Christian F. Beckmann,Marie-José van Tol,Marie-José van Tol,Luca Ferrarini,Julien Milles,Dick J. Veltman,André Aleman,Mark A. van Buchem,Mark A. van Buchem,Nic J.A. van der Wee,Nic J.A. van der Wee,Serge A.R.B. Rombouts,Serge A.R.B. Rombouts +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated whole-brain functional connectivity, unbiased by a priori definition of regions or networks of interest, in medication-free depressive patients without comorbidity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hierarchical functional modularity in the resting‐state human brain
Luca Ferrarini,Ilya M. Veer,E. Baerends,Marie-José van Tol,Remco J. Renken,Nic J.A. van der Wee,D.J. Veltman,André Aleman,Frans G. Zitman,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Mark A. van Buchem,Johan H. C. Reiber,Serge A.R.B. Rombouts,Julien Milles +14 more
TL;DR: A new definition of modularity is introduced, based on a recently improved clustering measurement, which overcomes limitations of previous definitions, and applies to the study of BFC in resting state fMRI of 53 healthy subjects, showing hierarchical functional modularity in the brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature Control of a Commercial Building With Model Predictive Control Techniques
TL;DR: This paper addresses the problem of thermal energy control in shopping centers through the application of model predictive control strategies using an existing shopping center as pilot case, which is characterized by a large common multifloor space, which gives rise to a significant vertical thermal stratification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shape differences of the brain ventricles in Alzheimer's disease.
Luca Ferrarini,Walter M. Palm,Hans Olofsen,Mark A. van Buchem,Johan H.C. Reiber,Faiza Admiraal-Behloul +5 more
TL;DR: This work captured the ventricle's shape and shape variations of 29 AD subjects and 25 age-matched controls, using a fully automatic shape modeling technique and found out that in patients with Alzheimer disease, not only the lateral horns were significantly affected, but also the areas adjacent to the anterior corpus callosum.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Implementation approaches for the execution model of IEC 61499 applications
Luca Ferrarini,C. Veber +1 more
TL;DR: The standard is carefully analyzed in order to point out the parts where it is non-exhaustive and a set of implementation approaches is investigated underlying advantages and disadvantages of each solution.
