COVID-19: Stroke Admissions, Emergency Department Visits, and Prevention Clinic Referrals.
Maria Bres Bullrich,Sebastian Fridman,Jennifer Mandzia,Lauren M. Mai,Alexander V. Khaw,Juan Camilo Vargas Gonzalez,Rodrigo Bagur,Luciano A. Sposato +7 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the decrease in code strokes was mainly driven by patient-related factors such as fear to be exposed to the SARS-CoV-2, while the reduction in clinic referrals was largely explained by hospital policies and the Government lockdown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stroke Risk, phenotypes, and death in COVID-19: Systematic review and newly reported cases.
Sebastian Fridman,Maria Bres Bullrich,Amado Jiménez-Ruiz,Pablo Costantini,Palak Shah,Caroline Just,Daniel Vela-Duarte,Italo Linfante,Athena Sharifi-Razavi,Narges Karimi,Rodrigo Bagur,Derek B. Debicki,Teneille Gofton,David A. Steven,Luciano A. Sposato +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated stroke risk, clinical phenotypes, and outcomes in patients with COVID-19 and applied random-effects meta-analyses to estimate the proportion of stroke among COVID19 patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Poststroke atrial fibrillation: Cause or consequence?: Critical review of current views
TL;DR: The role of inflammation in the genesis of AF within the first few days after ischemic stroke may occur through inflammatory mediators stimulating the intrinsic autonomic system and by direct damage to atrial myocardium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation after acute ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack: importance of immediate and prolonged continuous cardiac monitoring.
Luciano A. Sposato,Francisco Klein,Agustín Jáuregui,Marisol Ferrúa,Pablo Klin,Rafael Zamora,Patricia M. Riccio,Alejandro A. Rabinstein +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that immediate and prolonged CCM significantly improves the detection of NDAF after cryptogenic and noncryptogenic AIS or TIA, and that diabetes mellitus and infarct size are significantly associated with NDAf.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insular networks for emotional processing and social cognition: Comparison of two case reports with either cortical or subcortical involvement
Blas Couto,Lucas Sedeño,Luciano A. Sposato,Mariano Sigman,Patricia M. Riccio,Alejo Salles,Vladimir López,Johannes Schroeder,Facundo Manes,Facundo Manes,Agustín Ibáñez +10 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that IC connectivity with frontotemporal and subcortical regions might be relevant for contextual emotional processing and social cognition.
