Comparison of the biodegradability of various polyethylene films containing pro-oxidant additives

TL;DR: In this article, the biodegradability of high density polyethylene films (HDPE, LDPE and linear low-density polyethylenes (LLDPE) with a balanced content of antioxidants and pro-oxidants (manganese+iron or manganese+manganese + iron + cobalt) was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of important abiotic and biotic factors in the biodegradation of poly(l-lactic acid).

TL;DR: The biodegradation of four poly(l-lactic acid) (PLA) samples with molecular weights ranging from approximately 34 to 160kgmol(-1) was investigated under composting conditions, and initial retardation was discernible in parallel with the increasing MW of the polymer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyvinyl alcohol biodegradation under denitrifying conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, polyvinyl alcohol was biodegraded under denitrifying conditions with a microbial community originated from a municipal wastewater treatment plant, and the derived microbial consortium was capable of degradation under both denitrating and aerobic conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aerobic biodegradation of calcium carbonate filled polyethylene film containing pro-oxidant additives

TL;DR: In this paper, two low density polyethylene films, which contained pro-oxidant additives, were investigated, one of them containing micro-milled calcium carbonate filler, and both materials were subjected to controlled thermal oxidation, the oxidation was obviously retarded in the filler-containing sample.
Journal ArticleDOI

N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone-degrading bacteria from activated sludge

TL;DR: N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone degrading bacteria pertained to both Gram-negative and Gram-positive members, and belong to the Pseudomonas, Paracoccus, Acinetobacter and Rhodococcus genera were isolated from two samples of activated sludge.
