Merging Rates of Compact Binaries in Galaxies: Perspectives for Gravitational Wave Detections
TL;DR: In this article, the merging rates of compact binaries in galaxies, and the related detection rate of gravitational wave (GW) events with AdvLIGO/Virgo and with the Einstein Telescope are investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Einstein, Planck and Vera Rubin: relevant encounters between the cosmological and the quantum worlds
Paolo Salucci,Giampiero Esposito,Gaetano Lambiase,Emmanuele Battista,Micol Benetti,Donato Bini,Lumen Boco,Gauri Sharma,Valerio Bozza,Luca Buoninfante,Antonio Capolupo,Salvatore Capozziello,Giovanni Covone,Rocco D'Agostino,Mariafelicia De Laurentis,Ivan De Martino,Giulia De Somma,Elisabetta Di Grezia,Chiara Di Paolo,Lorenzo Fatibene,V. TL;DR: A review of 15 examples of such new paths of contaminated knowledge can be found in the Special Topic collection as mentioned in this paper, which is the basis for this work. But this review is not complete in presenting this kind of current investigations, but this shortcoming is much alleviated by considering the references of this work and expecially the other works of this special topic collection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exploring galaxies-gravitational waves cross-correlations as an astrophysical probe
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the cross-correlation signal between gravitational waves resolved events, as detected by the Einstein Telescope, and actively star-forming galaxies, and found that the measured cross-relation signal can be sufficiently strong to overcome the noise and provide a clear signal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth of Supermassive Black Hole Seeds in ETG Star-forming Progenitors: Multiple Merging of Stellar Compact Remnants via Gaseous Dynamical Friction and Gravitational-wave Emission
TL;DR: In this paper, a new mechanism for the growth of supermassive black hole (BH) seeds in the star-forming progenitors of local early-type galaxies (ETGs) was proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intensity and anisotropies of the stochastic gravitational wave background from merging compact binaries in galaxies
TL;DR: In this paper, the isotropic and anisotropic components of the Stochastic Gravitational Wave Background (SGWB) originated from unresolved merging compact binaries in galaxies.
