Journal ArticleDOI
Waste management from pulp and paper production in the European Union
TL;DR: Due to the large volumes of waste generated, the high moisture content of the waste and the changing waste composition as a result of process conditions, recovery methods are usually expensive and their environmental impact is still uncertain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of cellulose fibers from hemp core in fiber-cement production. Effect on flocculation, retention, drainage and product properties
TL;DR: In this paper, the feasibility of using cellulose fibers obtained from an agricultural waste, hemp core (Cannabis Sativa L.), through different new environmental friendly cooking processes for fiber-cement production was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Corn stalk from agricultural residue used as reinforcement fiber in fiber-cement production
TL;DR: In this article, the feasibility of using fibers obtained from corn stalks as reinforcement fibers in the production of fiber-cement through new environmentally friendly cooking methods was investigated, including the morphological characterization of the fibers and the effects that the use of these fibers has on the flocculation, retention and drainage of the fibercement suspensions and on the mechanical and physical properties of the final product.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterisation of agricultural residues used as a source of fibres for fibre-cement production
TL;DR: In this article, the potential of both corn stalk and industrial hemp core (Cannabis Sativa L) fibres as a renewable source of cellulose fibres in the production of fibre-cement was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extending the limits of paper recycling: improvements along the paper value chain
TL;DR: There is still room to further extend paper recycling activities in Europe through different improvements along the paper value chain, and environmental awareness of the citizens is still an important driver for increasing recycling activities, affecting not only recovery but to all the stagesAlong the paper recycling chain.
