Aluminum to titanium laser welding-brazing in V-shaped grooveI

TL;DR: In this article, a laser assisted joining of AA5754 aluminum alloy to T40 titanium with use of Al-Si filler wires was carried out, where continuous Yb:YAG laser beam was shaped into double spot tandem and defocalized to cover larger interaction zone in V shaped groove.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Speed Imaging of Vapor Plume in the treatment of Dissimilar Aluminum/Titanium Interface with Yb:YAG Laser Pulse

TL;DR: In this article , high-speed imaging and spectroscopic analysis of the vapor plume and postmortem analysis of melted zone produced from the interaction of a 6 ms Yb:YAG laser pulse with the aluminum A5754 - titanium T40 interface were performed for different offsets of the laser spot from the joint line.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coating Toughness Estimation through a Laser Shock Testing in Ni-Cr-B-Si-C Coatings

TL;DR: In this article, the authors made an attempt to find substitutes to cobalt hardfacing alloys since these alloys have a principal drawback, the transmutation from stable 59Co to 60Co under neutron irradiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

The investigation of keyhole behavior in dissimilar aluminum/titanium interface

TL;DR: In this paper , the keyhole behavior at the interface between titanium T40 and aluminum A5754 under a Yb:YAG laser pulse was characterized by high-speed imaging through the quartz plate and by SEM-EDX.
Journal ArticleDOI
