Mode identification from time-resolved spectroscopy of the pulsating white dwarf G29-38

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used time-resolved spectroscopy to measure the color dependence of pulsation amplitudes in the DAV white dwarf G29-38 and found that one mode had a color dependence different from the other five, permitting them to identify the l-value of all six modes and to test the model predictions.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Optical Counterpart of the Isolated Neutron Star RX J1605.3+3249

TL;DR: In this paper, the optical counterpart to the nearby isolated neutron star RX J1605.3+3249 was detected using observations from the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrometer aboard the Hubble Space Telescope.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of the optical and quiescent counterparts to the bright X-ray transient in NGC 6440

TL;DR: In this paper, an optical counterpart to a transient in a globular cluster is securely identified, which is the first time that the optical counterpart of an X-ray burster has been identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Survey for Millisecond Pulsars

TL;DR: In this article, the authors search 960 square degrees of sky for radio pulsars, using the 305 m telescope at Arecibo, Puerto Rico, using a dual-polarization, 32 channel filter bank over 8 MHz of bandwidth.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Luminous Companion to SGR 1806-20

TL;DR: In this paper, the infrared spectra of the star suggested to be the counterpart of the soft gamma-ray repeater (SGR) 1806-20 was obtained and strong emission lines similar to those seen in the spectrum of the rare luminous blue variables and B(e) stars were found.
