Visitor attraction management: A critical review of research 2009–2014

This study examined the factors affecting the willingness of tourists to visit the cultural heritage sites (CHS) located in the Northern Badia of Jordan, and estimated expenditures for their visit to the CHS. A questionnaire was developed to collect demographic and economic information about tourists during their visit to Jordan. Three hundred tourists were included in the survey at nine different sites during the summer of 2010. A logistic regression model was employed in the analyses. Factors that affected tourism at CHS included: education, variety of sites, multiple destinations, cost, and reasons for the visit. These factors had a significant impact on tourists' willingness to travel to CHS in the Northern Badia. This study recommends improving CHS and working closely with local communities to expand training and funding.

Factors affecting the willingness of tourists to visit cultural heritage sites in Jordan

This dissertation estimates households’ willingness to pay (WTP) for an improved electricity service in North Cyprus. Stated WTP is estimated using choice experiments (CE), contingent valuation methods (CVM), and approximated using the averting expenditure (AE) method. These estimates rely on data collected from 350 in-person interviews conducted during the period August 5-22, 2008. Using the Tobit model, an average household’s averting expenditures are estimated to be 3.13 YTL/month. In the CVM section, the spike model with varying spike, varying mean, and constant standard error specification results in a median WTP of 23.03 YTL per month and a mean WTP of 29.14 YTL per month. Using CE, compensating variation estimates for eliminating summer and winter outages are calculated using parameter estimates from the mixed logit (ML) model with interactions. The compensating variation is 6.65 YTL per month and 25.83 YTL per month respectively. Among the three valuation methodologies, WTP per hour unserved ranges from 0.13 YTL (0.11 USD) to 1.22 YTL (1.03 USD). In order to avoid the cost of outages, households are willing to incur a 1.5%-13.5% increase in their monthly electricity bill.

Souvenir Authenticity: The Perspectives of Local and Foreign Tourists

The sustainability of domestic water supply from the Layawan Watershed in Oroquieta City critically depends on past and present conservation activities and the availability of funds from stakeholders such as households, communities, non-government organizations, private entities and government agencies. This study determined the willingness to pay (WTP) particularly of households in Oroquieta City to finance conservation projects in Layawan Watershed to ensure the sustainability of domestic water supply. A household survey of randomly selected 278 respondents was conducted using the dichotomous choice referendum format. The Heckman’s two-stage analysis for the parametric estimation of mean WTP yielded the values of PhP 4.00, PhP 6.00 and PhP 7.00 per month for mandatory, voluntary and pooled data sets, respectively. The households are willing to contribute funds for conserving Layawan Watershed as supported by the total WTP of Oroquieta City’s population that ranges from PhP 117,845.00 (from lower bound estimate of PhP 2.00) to PhP 471,380.00 (from upper bound estimate of PhP 8.00) in five years, discounted at 6 %. Kandovan village which is located at Osco region in East Azarbayjan province named as one of the important tourism and promenade zone of Iran due to its numerous natural places. Studying tourism value of this place could be useful in predicting needs, remove scarcities and development of tourism. The aim of this research is estimating the outdoor recreation value of Kandovan village with the use of contingent valuation method. For investigating effective variables on willingness to pay of individuals, logit model estimated with the use of maximum likelihood approach. Requested data set were obtained by completing questionnaires and interviewing with 180 individuals who visit mentioned village. Results revealed that 83 percents of individuals were ready for paying as a use of the mentioned village. Also, results showed that variables include education, village absorption, revenue and bid had a significant effect on probability of willingness to pay of individuals but variables include age, gender, family size were not statistically significant but had expected signs. Mean willingness to pay for each visitor per year was 3905 RLs and annual outdoor recreation value of Kandovan village was 1171500000 RLs.
