Ketene dithioacetals in organic synthesis : recent developments
TL;DR: Ketene dithioacetals are reviewed in this article as versatile building blocks in a multitude of synthetically useful transformations, including cyclizations, C-C bond formation and in the synthesis of heterocyclic systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct synthesis of .alpha.-halogenomethyl-.alpha.-amino acids from the parent .alpha.-amino acids
Journal ArticleDOI
A new, short synthetic route to α-substituted 5,5-difluoro-4-pentenoic acid esters.
D.A. Kendrick,M. Kolb +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the α-substituted 5,5-difluoro-4-pentenoic acid esters are susceptible to a second deprotonation and, on reaction with an electrophile, give access to α-disubstitiuted analogues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of fluorinated α-amino ketones part I: α-benzamidoalkyl mono- di- and trifluoromethyl ketones
TL;DR: In this paper, 2-Phenyl-5(4H)-oxazolones, obtained from α-amino acids, were reacted with di-and trifluoro acetic anhydride by a modified Dakin-West procedure to yield in a one-pot reaction α-benzamidoalkyl-di- and triffluoromethyl ketones in good yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Marked and prolonged inhibition of mammalian ornithine decarboxylase in vivo by esters of (E)-2-(fluoromethyl)dehydroornithine.
TL;DR: (E)-2-(fluoromethyl)dehydroornithine, a new enzyme-activated irreversible inhibitor of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) is no more effective at inhibiting polyamine biosynthesis in rat hepatoma tissue culture (HTC) cells and in rat organs even though its potency is over 15 times higher than that of DFMO in vitro.
