Acetobacter diazotrophicus sp. nov., a Nitrogen-Fixing Acetic Acid Bacterium Associated with Sugarcane

TL;DR: Results of deoxyribon nucleic acid (DNA)-ribosomal ribonucleic acid and DNA-DNA hybridizations revealed that nitrogen-fixing bacteria isolated from roots and stems of sugarcane belong to a new species in the genus Acetobacter, for which the name AcetOBacter diazotrophicus sp.
Journal ArticleDOI

Physiology and dinitrogen fixation of Acetobacter diazotrophicus

TL;DR: The recently described species Acetobacter diazotrophicus isolated from sugar cane roots and stems was found capable of growth at pH 3.0 and showed high nitrogenase activity even at pH 2.5, and Nitrogenase activity was only partially inhibited by 20 mM (NH4+)2SO4 and several amino acids showed similar effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

The anthelmintic effect of plant extracts on Haemonchus contortus and Strongyloides venezuelensis.

TL;DR: Evaluation of the in vitro antiparasitic effect of plant extracts on Haemonchus contortus in sheep and the in vivo effect on Strongyloides venezuelensis in Rattus norvegicus concludes that the extracts of P. tuberculatum, L. sidoides and M. piperita have effective activity when tested in vitro, but the doses of the extract have no effect when employed in in vivo tests.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rheological, physicochemical and authenticity assessment of Minas Frescal cheese

TL;DR: In this article, the authenticity of Minas Frescal cheese was assessed using SDS-PAGE in 21 commercial samples acquired in Southern Brazil and the results indicated the irregular presence of whey in the composition of these products, contrary to the enzymatic process legally required.
