Journal ArticleDOI
Contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization image processing to improve the detection of simulated spiculations in dense mammograms.
Etta D. Pisano,Shuquan Zong,Bradley M. Hemminger,Marla C. DeLuca,R. Eugene Johnston,Keith E. Muller,M. Patricia Braeuning,Stephen M. Pizer +7 more
TL;DR: The selected CLAHE settings should be tested in the clinic with digital mammograms to determine whether detection of spiculations associated with masses detected at mammography can be improved.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interpretation of digital mammograms: comparison of speed and accuracy of soft-copy versus printed-film display.
Etta D. Pisano,Elodia B. Cole,Emily O. Kistner,Keith E. Muller,Bradley M. Hemminger,Mary Brown,R. Eugene Johnston,Cherie M. Kuzmiak,M. Patricia Braeuning,Rita I. Freimanis,Mary Scott Soo,Jay A. Baker,Ruth Walsh +12 more
TL;DR: Comparison of the speed and accuracy of the interpretations of digital mammograms by radiologists by using printed-film versus soft-copy display found interpretation with soft- copy display is likely to be useful with digital mammography and is unlikely to significantly change accuracy or speed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Current status of full-field digital mammography.
Etta D. Pisano,Martin J. Yaffe,Bradley M. Hemminger,R. Edward Hendrick,Loren T. Niklason,Andrew D. A. Maidment,Carolyn Kimme-Smith,Stephen A. Feig,Edward A. Sickles,M. Patricia Braeuning +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic accuracy of digital mammography in patients with dense breasts who underwent problem-solving mammography: effects of image processing and lesion type.
Elodia B. Cole,Etta D. Pisano,Emily O. Kistner,Keith E. Muller,Marylee E. Brown,Stephen A. Feig,Roberta A. Jong,Andrew D. A. Maidment,Melinda J. Staiger,Cherie M. Kuzmiak,Rita I. Freimanis,Nadine M. Lesko,Eric L. Rosen,Ruth Walsh,M E Williford,M. Patricia Braeuning +15 more
TL;DR: Findings in this study indicate that radiologist's interpretation accuracy in interpreting digital mammograms depends on lesion type, and Interpretation accuracy was not influenced by the image-processing method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic accuracy of Fischer Senoscan Digital Mammography versus screen-film mammography in a diagnostic mammography population.
Elodia B. Cole,Etta D. Pisano,Mary Maureen Brown,Cherie M. Kuzmiak,M. Patricia Braeuning,Hak Hee Kim,Roberta A. Jong,Ruth Walsh +7 more
TL;DR: No statistically significant difference in diagnostic accuracy between the Fischer Senoscan and screen-film mammography was detected in this study.
